Thesis Examining Committee

The MASc candidate will create a Thesis Examining Committee consisting of the Research Supervisor(s) and at least two other members. One of the Supervisory Committee members may be from outside the Department. All three committee members should be faculty members with the rank of at least Assistant professor with UBC, although the supervisory committee may include senior instructors, professors emeriti, honorary faculty, adjunct faculty, off campus professionals as well as faculty members from other universities. Thesis Defense

An MASc thesis  exam is typically scheduled by the supervisor with the date, time, and examination committee member details and sent to the home department program administrator. See the Graduate Studies website for thesis preparation and submission.

In order to ensure that you have completed program requirements, please email a completed Program Requirements Checklist for your program and email it to the Biomedical Engineering Academic Program Assistant (, who will coordinate with the graduate advisor to verify and communicate with your home department that you have satisfied program requirements.
