MBIM URS (Microbiology & Immunology Undergraduate Research Symposium)

Attend the 4th annual Microbiology and Immunology Undergraduate Research Symposium (MBIM URS)! Symposium participants will have the  opportunity to meet fellow MBIM students and faculty, engage in scientific discussion, and support outstanding undergraduate research undertaken in our department. In addition to the 10-minute presentations, Microbiology and Immunology is excited to introduce a new presentation format for this year’s symposium, the 3×1 presentation! Students will have just 3 minutes and 1 slide to effectively communicate the significance of their research.

This Symposium will feature a keynote address by Dr. Jennifer Gardy, former UBC professor and now Deputy Director, Surveillance, Data, and Epidemiology of the Gates Foundation.  There will also be lunchtime info booths with reps from iGEM, MISA, UJEMI, and local biotech companies in attendance.

The MBIM URS is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to showcase their research findings, develop communication skills, and network with UBC faculty and peers. The virtual symposium will include presentations featuring the work our undergraduate students done in research laboratories, and some of our experiential learning courses. Students can submit their abstracts by visiting the event page (see below).
