On Tuesday, June 9 2020 the School of Biomedical Engineering is hosting its
3rd Annual Research Symposium

Join us and more than 300 people from academia, industry and hospital partners to hear
from leaders in the Biomedical Engineering field on the latest breakthroughs, trends and discoveries.

Keynote: Dr. Tejal Desai

Ernest L. Prien Professor and Chair of the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences
at University of California, San Francisco

Head of the Therapeutic Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory

The Desai lab focuses in the area of biomedical micro and nanotechnology for therapeutic delivery.
Professor Desai’s research spans multiple disciplines including materials engineering, cell biology,
tissue engineering, and drug delivery.

Special Morning Session

We are excited to announce that this symposium will include a special morning session recognizing
the work and legacy of Drs. Charles Laszlo, James McEwan and others who were instrumental
in the genesis of the BME ecosystem at UBC and in Vancouver as a whole.
