Trainee Talk:

Sedimentation Process for Removing Byproducts of Cell Microencapsulation

When:  Thursday January 21 @ 11:00am

Overview:

Islet transplantation is a cell-based therapy requiring life-long immunosuppression. Microencapsulation technologies are being developed to protect transplanted cells from immune rejection. We used density gradient sedimentation to remove two common and problematic byproducts of cell encapsulation: empty microcapsules and unencapsulated cells.
