Biomedical Engineering Graduate Association (BMEGA)
BMEGA’s mission is to foster a sense of community, provide a formal avenue for representation and provide professional development opportunities for graduate students studying Biomedical Engineering at The University of British Columbia. We encourage any students studying in the biomedical engineering field, whether they are BME Program graduate or undergraduate students or not, to register with BMEGA. TiM Team Members
Technology in Medicine (TiM)
The Technology in Medicine Club promotes awareness of past, present and future synergies and collaborations between biomedical engineering and medicine. Topics covered by the club include demonstrations of medical technology, the study of medical technology and the medical technology industry sector. The club offers guest speakers, workshops, activities and resources with a special emphasis on fostering collaboration between engineering and medical students. The club members include engineering and medical students and other students interested in technology and medicine. The club faculty sponsors are Dr. Tony Hodgson and Dr. Chris Nguan. Biomedical Engineering Student Team (BEST)
The UBC Biomedical Engineering Student Team is building a multidisciplinary community that cultivates technical growth, networking and collaboration in the biomedical field in UBC and the lower Vancouver mainland. BEST works together to identify challenges in the medical technology field with the goal of developing an innovative solution to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes, both locally and internationally. Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS)
The UBC Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) is a sister society to the UBC Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student Branch. The UBC EMBS is comprised of engineering students with a passion for the biomedical field, and our focus is to help connect the wider engineering community to the biomedical world. With an emphasis on providing academic and industry opportunities for students, our events include networking mixers, hosting guest speakers, and organizing tours of labs, industry facilities, and hospitals. Hatching Health
Hatching Health is an exciting opportunity for all medical innovation enthusiasts to work together with innovators from different backgrounds to solve healthcare challenges over the course of a weekend. Hatching Health will offer participants networking opportunities, expert mentors and prototyping supplies & facilities, through which they will have the tools to take healthcare problems to solutions during this event and in the future.
