BMEGA Connections – Graduate Mentorship Scheme
The Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Association (BMEGA) offers a mentorship scheme for all graduate students enrolled in BME, as well as to undergraduate engineering students. The mentorship scheme is designed to help new graduate students settle into student life in BME, and to provide an opportunity for students to receive peer advice on graduate work, extracurricular activities, research opportunities,Engin etc. Undergraduate students who are interested in finding out about what biomedical engineering is, and what it entails at UBC, are also encouraged to sign up for this mentorship scheme. Our mentors will provide personal insight into life as biomedical engineers!
New students can sign up as mentees, and will be matched with a mentor (a graduate student that has been enrolled in BME for a year or longer). We are also looking for current graduate students to sign up as mentors for this scheme. Mentors are grouped together with two mentees to form a trio. Trios meet up twice a term to catch up and discuss student life, career goals, or whatever is felt to be appropriate! A $10 Starbucks gift card is given to each student every term, to encourage trios to meet up and have a good chat!
If you are interested in signing up as either a mentor or mentee, please contact Prashant Pandey at prashant@ece.ubc.ca.
